State Platform

Adopted by the Vermont Republican Party Platform Convention on May 30th, 2026

PREAMBLE

Vermont Republicans believe in the principles laid out in the Declaration of Independence. All people are created equal.
They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights – Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
To secure these rights governments are instituted and derive their powers from the consent of the governed.

PERSONAL LIBERTY AND RESPONSIBILITY

Vermont Republicans believe in the rights and responsibilities of citizenry as outlined in our Federal and State Constitutions. 
We believe the family is the fundamental institution that forms the basis of society. We affirm the inherent value of all human life.

RESPONSIBLE AND RESPONSIVE GOVERNMENT

Vermont Republicans believe government must be constitutionally based, fiscally responsible, and accountable.
Government must be administered honestly, competently, transparently and without political bias.

ECONOMIC GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY

Vermont Republicans believe that the people best thrive when they are free to pursue economic and personal opportunities
without unreasonable taxation, regulation, and restraints. Housing, and the ability to work their land and pass it on to the next generation are foundational.
Job creation and incentivizing innovation are critical for individual and state prosperity.

EDUCATION

Vermont Republicans believe that people thrive when they have ready access to an unbiased affordable high-quality education.
Government should respect the role and rights of students, their families, and concerned citizens.
Access to career and technical education should be valued and available.
We believe helping Vermonters maintain local voice in schools is in the best interest of everyone.
Vermont Republicans also support our state’s longstanding tradition of school choice.

HEALTHCARE

Vermont Republicans believe in quality healthcare where competition provides the best affordable and accessible care.
We value our history of providing safe and healthy communities while protecting the primacy of the patient/healthcare provider relationship.
We believe in conscience protection for all healthcare workers. 

PUBLIC SAFETY

Vermont Republicans believe that adherence to the law is essential for a civil society.
We embrace policies that strengthen and support law enforcement, that ensure justice is administered lawfully and fairly,
and that protect the innocent while fostering safe communities for all Vermonters.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Vermont Republicans believe reliable public infrastructure is essential for economic growth and opportunity.
It should provide safe, efficient, and economical transportation, responsible environmental stewardship,
and support a competitive business environment.

ENVIRONMENT

Vermont Republicans believe that addressing local environmental issues benefits every Vermonter.
We value landowner rights and our longstanding heritage of providing faithful stewardship of our natural resources. 

CONCLUSION

Vermont Republicans believe in one nation under God, individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government,
compassion for the vulnerable, low taxes, a free-market economy, and local control.
The principles set forth in this platform reflect the beliefs and values of the Vermont Republican Party.
While individual Republicans may hold diverse opinions in some areas,
such differences should not deflect from advancing the principles that unite us as a party.
